I’ve kind of become obsessed with Puddles the Seven Foot Clown which is a really crummy way to introduce someone else all together but stay with me.

Scott Bradlee is the talented musician behind Post Modern Jukebox, which every few weeks reimagines a current hit in an older musical style, often racking up millions of viewers per video.

Scott is not a client and he is not particularly representative of our audience. But he has figured out something a number of our listeners have either been curious about or struggled with: Crowd-funding.

He raises funds for each of his videos on a site called Patreon.

Created by Jack Conte, another musician, Patreon lets Bradless raise money from his supporters for each video, approximately $3200 each video.

He and his team aren’t getting rich but what they understand is that the same people who won’t buy music will happily support a dream that comes with a side of music.
